Dragon’s Dogma: The Next Chapter
It’s no secret that a lot of people enjoyed this RPG epic that was given to us by the good people of Capcom. Not only that; but a lot of the critics out there seemed to have loved the game as well as the review scores have been high. IGN gave the game a 7.5/10 on both systems, GameSpot has given the Playstation 3 version an 8/10 and Famitsu has given both versions an “Hall of Fame: Gold Award” praising the combat and the fun of the side-quests, just to name a few. Well, if you are one of those players that played this masterpiece and was left wanting more, it seems that Capcom have decided to make Dragon’s Dogma a major franchise.
It’s no secret that the game has sold pretty damn well, selling 92,000 copies in the United States, the first five days. So, its no surprise that this game in seeing the franchise treatment. Capcom have also happily boasted
“[Dragon's Dogma] set a new record in Japan for sales volume of an entirely new franchise in its first week of releases during the past decade”
I guess Capcom have earned the right to be egotistical about their creation since it’s so damn awesome, but only this time! Capcom has also gone on to state that they have shipped about a million of the game worldwide; but how many they ship doesn’t measure success; it’s how many that have been sold.
Capcom created Dragon’s Dogma with the full intention of it becoming another means of earnings for the company so with this news, they must be eating cake and jumping around on bouncy castles because those are just epic. So, with Dragon’s Dogma being turned into a franchise; you can bet your boots that you will be seeing countless sequels and even more countless DLC as Capcom will be sure to squeeze the franchise dry of all the possible dollar signs.
