PlayStation Predictions #1
We are almost one year removed from the big announcement that Nintendo made concerning their next generation console, the WiiU. Rumors have been circling that perhaps, both Microsoft and Sony might follow in their competitors foot steps and give us a bit of yummy information about the next generation. But alas gamers, I am the bearer of bad news as Sony will, probably, not be announcing anything about the Playstation 4. I thought I would get that bit of information out of the way, before I make predictions for E3. So cheer up, as Sony still has the tools to steal the show.
This is the Playstation Vita’s first E3 since being released and it would only make sense that at least a third of the announcements concern it. The Vita has had a very poor launch with games; most of them aren’t really making my mouth to water, apart from one or two (Uncharted says hi!). I would expect Sony to announce some big name titles for the Vita. I’ve heard rumors that perhaps a God of War is being developed for the Vita but take it with a grain of salt, for I have also heard that it is not in development. Already, we know that the Metal Gear Solid Collection (June 22nd) and Sly Cooper: Thieves of Time (Same release as its console counterpart) are coming. Perhaps this is the light at the end of the tunnel; and expectations will be met for 2012/2013.
As I noted in a previous article of mine, pricing has been a huge issue, as far as Vita goes. Playstation 3 has come a long way and now retails for $249, a huge improvement from its initial $600 price tag. I suspect that Sony will be addressing some of these issues with the Vita. If not lowering the handheld price itself, then perhaps offering a Vita game (if bought with its console counter part) at a reduced price tag. So for example, if I were to buy MLB for Vita and Playstation 3; I would receive MLB for $10 say, instead of its retail $39.99.
Now, there have been rumors circling about this E3 being the last for that Playstation 3 but I beg to differ. The console is only 6 years old, and it has been said that it most likely will meet the 10-year life cycle usually given to a Playstation product. Furthermore, it is a powerful machine; developers can do so much with it and I feel that it still has so much to offer us. As we know, God of War: Ascension will be releasing for the system, sometime in Spring 2013. I expect more to be shown at E3 concerning this game. But there is another game, embodying Nintendo’s Super Smash Brothers Formula, called “Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale”. I suspect a full list of characters to be given at E3, as well as more gameplay footage and perhaps an exact release date. I also suspect that Sony will announce that “Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale” could be on its way to Vita. This would be the ideal game to have cross platform capabilities and if Sony lace this announcement, with a price drop on bundles, they could be on their way to stealing the show.
Well, that’s all for my predictions; I don’t expect Sony to announce any sort of hardware but perhaps I will be surprised. Once E3 kicks off, on June 5th until June 7th, all will be answered and more so stay tuned folks!

That’s a nice post.
