Final Fantasy Versus 13 “Not Cancelled”
Well, it seems that the rumor of Final Fantasy Versus 13 being cancelled might actually be just that, just a rumor. A senior editor of RPGSite has replied to the rumor that has seemingly sweeped the internet and had a precise choice of words to say that ultimately disproves the rumor.
“[The Kotaku rumor] goes against information I was told quite recently, which was that Nomura is hard at work on the game and something of it will be shown at TGS” [via bitbag]
So the question now arises, who is telling the truth. I feel as though I believe RPGSite more because they have had a recent interview with the man himself; indicating that they have a good relationship with Square-Enix and so it’s not strange they would get the insider information.
As I mentioned in my other article, first reporting the rumor; I was expecting there to be an announcement of some kind at the Square Enix event for the 25th anniversary. Now, it is said that the announcement would be at the Tokyo Game Show. I don’t know how I take this to be honest; the internet provides the tools needed to easily start rumors and start discussions on seemingly false topics. I will say this however, the past is against Nomura when it comes to announcing details on the game. After all, Nomura did state that we would be getting some sort of news, back in March. When that never materialized, he asked us to be patient until May and that, as you may have guessed it, never happened.
To be honest, I am not going to jump in joy just yet. There seems to be a lot of things floating around that are contradicting each other. It would be simple to just say that Kotaku is full of it, because I want it not to be cancelled but realistically, I can’t. But, I am almost 100% sure that Square Enix will be making an announcement about Final Fantasy Versus 13. Be it at TGS or the Square Enix event, it will come and the world will know the truth.
