Rumour Round Up: PS3 4000, Yakuza HD & Battlefield 4
Good afternoon, rumour fans. This week sees some new hardware, more HD collections and another installment in a major gaming series. Also this week we’ve finally seen the beginning of the annual wallet slaughter in the form of the Steam Summer Sale. So far I’ve managed to resist the tempations but it’s getting harder. Maybe I’ll buy something tonight. Anyway, let’s get on with this week’s rumours.
PS3 4000 model leaked
It looks like Sony are going to be releasing a new version of the PS3, this one featuring a top lid feature, similar to the way the original PlayStation or the PS2 Slim was designed. The PS3 4000 or the Super Slim.
The photos are courtesy of Technoblog, a Brazilian technology site, with claims these came from official filings. Apparently the new model will come with 250GB and 500GB. The new console is expected to be announced at Gamescom.
Battlefield 4 revealed?
It looks like EA has revealed the existence of Battlefield 4 (which isn’t all that surprising.
This image comes from EA’s Origin store, and will allow people who preorder MOH: Warfighter to gain access to what I assume will be the Battlefield 4 multiplayer. This does raise questions about Battlefield: Bad Company 3, as DICE concentrates on the main Battlefield series. I’d expect the first official announcement (not that this isn’t official) will be at Gamescom in August.
Yakuza 1 & 2 to get HD re release.
It looks like SEGA outed the Yakuza HD release, by accident. The mention of the collection appeared on a SEGA release schedule. The HD collection will contain both Yakuza 1 & 2 and is expected to release in Japan in December, at around the same time as Yakuza 5. A western release will probably be about the same time or not long after.
